CGI Commitment to Action
Starting in September of 2024, the Mental Health Literacy Collaborative, in coordination with the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI), commits to educating 30,000 degree-seeking education professionals in a cost-covered Mental Health Literacy (MHL) Aware training.
About the CGI:
Founded by President Bill Clinton in 2005, the Clinton Global Initiative is a community of doers representing a broad cross section of society and dedicated to the idea that we can accomplish more together than we can apart. Through CGI’s unique model, more than 10,000 organizations have launched more than 4,000 Commitments to Action — new, specific, and measurable projects and programs – that are making a difference in the lives of more than 500 million people in 180 countries.
About MHL Aware:
MHL Aware is a 60-minute training (with an optional certification) that addresses professional, personal, and community needs for knowledge, language, and confidence around the topic of mental health. This training is the first step in guiding people to successfully integrate MHL into the fabric of their community.
Aware training focuses on educating individuals about 1) What MHL is, 2) Why it is beneficial, and 3) How they can bring this information to their community. In addition to these core focus areas, the training provides basic, real-world application strategies.
The MHLC is working with an exciting group of partners to complete this commitment. You can learn more here:
Open Office Hours - 2nd Monday at 12pm ET:
Beginning March 10, 2025, the MHLC will host monthly open office hours on the second Monday of the month at 12:00pm ET. We encourage institution of higher education (IHE) representatives to join the MHLC team to discuss how to bring cost-covered MHL Aware to students who are seeking school professions.
