MHLC Leveled Certification Training Overview

Fear and a lack of knowledge are key barriers for communities looking to implement Mental Health Literacy (MHL). Our leveled certification model addresses these barriers by helping individuals and communities gain confidence and competence around a topic they might otherwise avoid.

This introductory level focuses on educating individuals about 1) What MHL is, 2) Why it is beneficial, and 3) How they can bring this information to their community. In addition to these core focus areas, the training provides basic, real-world application strategies.

MHL Aware (level 1)

This level supports communities in creating and empowering a team to evaluate and enhance community efforts around MHL. It is imperative for long-term success because it insulates the community from losing a single MHL champion and develops priorities that enhance existing initiatives and builds upon them through group action.

MHL Responsive (level 2)

This level endorses a community that has created an MHL Responsive Team and is actively incorporating the MHL framework. The endorsement is achieved through a review process by the MHLC, and MHL Informed communities are provided continued support for their efforts.

MHL Informed (level 3)
