Young Adult Council Overview:

Our goal with the Young Adult Council is to empower and amplify young adult voices and promote Mental Health Literacy (MHL) in schools and communities across the nation and around the globe.

Under the guidance of the council leadership, selected applicants will co-create tangible advocacy materials and toolkits like our MHL Advocacy Toolkit. This Young Adult Advocacy Council will be focused exclusively on the MHL needs, concerns, and ideas of young adults from various communities.

Council members and council leadership will engage in meaningful, bidirectional communication over the course of several months with their young adult communities as well as with the MHLC community. Their work product will be made available broadly for young adult advocacy for MHL education in schools and communities.

MHL covers four critical concepts:

  1. Understanding how to foster and maintain positive mental health.

  2. Understanding mental health disorders and their treatments.

  3. Decreasing stigma related to mental health.

  4. Understanding how to seek help effectively.
